The new Skyliner: Narita Airport to Tokyo in just 36 minutes

On July 17, 2010, the new rail link to Narita Airport, known as Narita Sky Access was launched and the new Skyliner trains link Tokyo to Narita Airport at a maximum speed of 160km/h, the fastest-ever speed for a conventional rail line. The shortest journey time will be reduced to 36 minutes, taking 15 minutes off the journey time of the existing Skyliner trains, bringing Narita Airport even closer to Tokyo.

The new Skyliner trains have eight cars, with a capacity for 398 passengers and have been designed by world-renowned fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto. The train interiors have ceilings 24cm higher than previous models and all seats are fitted with power sockets. Guidance information is provided in four languages: Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese.

The one-way fare from Tokyo to Narita Airport is ¥2,400. Other options linking Tokyo to Narita are the Narita Express of JR East (60 minutes to Tokyo station, ¥2,940) and the Airport Limousine bus service (60-90 minutes to all major hotels, ¥3,000).

The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011 is coming home to Tokyo after 24 years

In 2011, the Tokyo Motor Show will make a return to within the city limits for the first time in 24 years.

The Tokyo Motor Show is the largest auto-related event in Japan, held once every two years. Until now, it has been held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture. In 2011, the Motor Show will be held at Tokyo Big Sight for ten days from Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 11 (open to the public from Saturday, December 3). The public entry to the Motor Show will be three days shorter than the previous show in 2009. The shorter time frame was decided in order to make it easier for domestic and overseas exhibitors to take part in the Motor Show. In addition, in the same way as in 2009, the show period covers two weekends—a move that is designed to attract as many visitors as possible.
