Ome Ume Plum Blossom Festival Yoshino Baigo

Japan is already rightly known around the world for its famous sakura cherry blossoms that cover the country in late Spring.
Less well known internationally but in many ways just as spectacular are the hundreds of thousands of ume plum blossoms that flower in the late winter and weeks leading up to the first appearance of the sakura.
One of the most spectacular areas in Japan for ume plum blossom viewing is Yoshino Baigo near Ome City in Western Tokyo.
Already an area worth a visit for its impressive day hiking, picturesque river valleys and historic sightseeing, the Ome area becomes a truly breathtaking sight as it becomes blanketed in hues of white and pink.
It's a day trip sure to be one of the most memorable for a visitor to Tokyo. A suggested walking route, starting from Hinatawada Station starts with crossing over the nearby river bridge. Pick up one of the maps at the station or ask for assistance from the helpful station staff. A wonderful and impressive day hike awaits the visitor as they make their way towards Futamatao station!
