The marathon course starts from Shinjuku and goes through Iidabashi to the Imperial Palace, and then on to Hibiya, Shinagawa, Ginza, Nihombashi, Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate, Tsukiji, Toyosu and finally finishes at Tokyo Big Sight. The route symbolizes the past, present, and future of Tokyo by including historical districts, the busy downtown and futuristic high-rises.
