Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
About 1,300 cherry trees bloom one after another in this former imperial garden. After cherry blossom petals fall on the large lawn ground, azalea and roses follow them in splendor. There are as many as 10,000 trees in this huge garden, with a Japanese garden, French formal-style garden and British landscape garden.
Access : 5 minutes on foot from Subway Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station, or 10 minutes on foot from Shinjuku Station for each line

This site was a herb garden of the Tokugawa shogunate and the first botanical garden in Japan (Now it is a garden specializing in botanical research). It is famous for beautiful cherry blossoms and attracts many people to see them. From the end of April, colorful azalea flowers bloom in the Japanese garden and Tsutsuji-en (azalea garden). Such is their beauty that they have made an appearance in many novels and movies.
