What We Do

Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing and management organization for Tokyo. Our goal is to build economic prosperity and support community development through tourism. We effectively market the city and communicate the ever-evolving image of Tokyo to global audiences in the aim of attracting visitors and business events. This is achieved through the coordinated group efforts of community, partners, and staff working together.

Making the city sustainable through tourism

In “making Tokyo the world’s choice,” TCVB strives to create a sustainable city through tourism and business events.
Tokyo is a metropolis that breathes with centuries of tradition. Art, nature, food, entertainment, technology, history and innovation all meet and evolve to create new value here. Tokyo’s many charms attract travelers from around the globe, yet, many people also call the city home. A multitude of industries are rooted in its local communities, and Tokyo’s residents wish to protect its unique culture and vibrant environment.
The tourism industry puts a strain on this environment because it encourages the movement of a large number of people and the consumption of massive amounts of energy. Furthermore, an excessive concentration of travelers can cause overtourism to run rampant.
We will pursue the goal of sustainable tourism with the utmost responsibility to both minimize the negative environmental and social impact that tourism causes, and to further grow the city's tourism industry.

Promoting the city as a tourist destination

The city has been the vibrant heart of Japan for over 400 years, and is a crossroads where tradition meets modernity. We work tirelessly to promote Tokyo to attract domestic and international tourists, as well as to support travel professionals and media representatives.

Promoting the city as a business events destination

A lively cultural and economic center that fuels innovation and inspiration, Tokyo is a global hub for business and academic events. In collaboration with our local partners, we will support organizers and planners in every way possible to secure safety and lead your event to great success.

Tokyo as a location for filming

A metropolis like no other, the city is also an attractive place for filming. “Tokyo Location Box,” an official film commission of Tokyo, will support film production crews to shoot on location in the city, and offer support so that productions can proceed smoothly.

Welcoming visitors and making the city more visitor-friendly

Sometimes, far from home, visitors may feel anxieties or inconvenience in the city. We offer a variety of services and tools to make stays more pleasant, and we also help the tourism industry to become more visitor friendly in every way.

Supporting community development through tourism

Tourism can support the local economy and contribute to solving social issues. We are working with a variety of stakeholders and partners in Tokyo to make the city more attractive and more sustainable, so that all involved can continue to benefit from it.

Strengthening industry engagement and networking

To successfully fulfil the above roles, we work together with industry partners including accommodation facilities, venues, tourist facilities, event support services, restaurants and tour providers, associations, and more. We are constantly working to strengthen our partnerships and networks to make Tokyo the world’s choice.
