What to do in Tokyo

Tokyo Architecture

Tokyo's dramatic, ever-changing cityscape is one of the world's most famous. Tokyo is also host to numerous projects from some of Japan's, and the worlds, most well known architects.

Start your tour with the Hermes Building in Ginza. Designed by Renzo Piano this graceful building set off a surge in partnerships between some of the world's best architects and its most famous brand-name retailers throughout Ginza (Jun Mitsui and Associates, Inc. - de Beers Building,(Massimiliano and Doriano Fuksas - Armani Tower), fashionable Omotesando(Tadao Ando - Omotesando Hills), sophisticated Aoyama (Herzog and de Meuron - Prada Boutique Aoyama), and the resurgent Roppongi (Kisho Kurokawa - The National Art Centre).

Not to be outdone, the already spectacular skyline of Shinjuku recently welcomed the futuristic Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower* to its famous "skyscraper forest". Designed by the office of one of Japan's most noted architects, Kenzo Tange, this cocoon like tower is one of the most dramatic modern buildings to appear in some time.
